CapTech Philadelphia Hosts Tech Impact Classroom Session to Transition Students to IT Professionals

CapTech

CapTech will host a day long workshop on November 9 at CapTech's Philadelphia office for Tech Impact's ITWorks students. The session is designed to help the students become IT professionals.

ITWorks is an award winning 16-week job training program that changes lives. They offer free, immersive IT training to young adults ─ motivated high school graduates, 18-26 years old, who have not yet completed a bachelor's degree. Students earn a professional certification in IT and a real-world internship inside leading corporations and nonprofits. CapTech has collaborated over the past several years with ITWorks, providing pro bono support on this event.

CapTech's IT and management consulting experts designed the workshop curriculum and will conduct the session. The curriculum focuses on the practical office skills and professional coaching necessary to successfully deliver in fast-paced IT workplaces.

Topics covered will include how to shape your career, develop your IT expertise, build your professional brand, network, and adhere to corporate policies and cultures. CapTech experts will share tips and stories to illustrate the learning topics and the students run through several interactive exercises to reinforce the topics.

"The workshop is a great way for CapTech employees to share their experiences and provide guidance to upcoming IT professionals," says Bob Wolk, Senior Manager, CapTech. "The day is collaborative with activities to help engage the students and provide professional advice on how to navigate the business world."

Students come from diverse backgrounds, but all have a passion for technology. Current student profiles can be found here.
