ScoreSight: A Modern Scoring Solution for TGL Presented by SoFi, a New Stadium Golf League
As the Official Data Partner of TGL, CapTech defined, designed, and built ScoreSight, a cutting-edge competition data platform.
Industry
Summary
TMRW Sports recently launched TGL presented by SoFi, a tech-infused, team golf league in partnership with the PGA TOUR. TMRW Sports worked with CapTech from concept to creation, partnering to bring an entirely new sports league to market. CapTech helped create the broad technology strategy, define the gameplay, and build ScoreSight, the supporting data platform.

Challenge
As CapTech looked to build ScoreSight, the primary challenge was to create a real-time data platform that could serve use cases inside the arena, on TV, and on second-screen experiences with both first- and third-party data consumers. CapTech decided to take the elements of traditional scoring platforms but customize it for TGL’s unique ruleset. Instead of relying on conventional scoring devices and multiple systems for league administration, the team created a single system that could be run anywhere.
Approach
Throughout the entire product lifecycle, the team leveraged deep understanding of cloud and data architecture, data management best practices, event-driven design, front-end applications, and, most importantly, sports. After an eight-week technology assessment, the CapTech team provided TMRW Sports with a roadmap for launching ScoreSight in under 12 months.
Next, CapTech conducted a design phase for the front-end league management and scoring user interface. The team developed user flows, an information architecture, visual and accessibility designs, and prototypes to allow stakeholders to iterate on changes and provide feedback on critical business functions for scoring the competition.
In parallel, the team architected a backend for the data that would run entirely in the cloud. Using an event-driven architecture, this data platform could integrate with data-producing applications, process in parallel, and distribute results back out almost instantly.
ScoreSight is the central data integration and competition management platform for TGL. This encompasses every aspect of the gameplay, including pre-match setup, in-match functions, post-match activities, and future enhancements.
Pre-Match Setup
Within ScoreSight, the Match Admin Console (MAC) consolidates various administrative tasks under one application. This streamlining improves efficiency and data consistency across the league.
Setting up a match in TGL involves several critical steps:
- Team management: Team rosters are set up before the season starts, establishing the league structure.
- Building the schedule: The match schedule, including dates and times, is planned early on, with holes and player lineups finalized just a few days before the match.
- Player lineups: Announced a few days before the match, typically on Fridays, lineups are input into the MAC, selecting three players from each team.
- Course layout: This step includes hole setup, course building, and “field of play” technology configurations that are to be implemented in the ScreenZone and GreenZone.
In addition, incorporating player bios and historic stats requires ScoreSight to integrate seamlessly with the PGA TOUR.

In-Match Functions
As a match begins, ScoreSight feeds the Simulator Admin Console (SAC), which manages setup of simulated holes, GreenZone rotation, the putting surface, and ball physics attributes. An operator uses the MAC to record the official timing and scoring data consisting of strokes taken, clubs used, penalties taken, holes conceded, hammers thrown, and other elements. As shots are hit, ball flight and positioning data are integrated in real time from the Full Swing launch monitors, Toptracer optical cameras, and all other competition data sources. Apart from the operator entry, ScoreSight is fully automated.
This centralization ensures consistency and accuracy across all outputs, including:
- TV broadcast and recordings
- AR camera feeds
- Social media tools
- In-arena scoreboards
- Private monitoring applications
- Gaming partners and betting platforms
- Public web sites and mobile applications
One unique advantage of ScoreSight is the system's minimal operator requirement. Only one operator is needed to run a match with the MAC, with additional support for monitoring and troubleshooting. League employees are only working with one system to manage all aspects of player, team, schedules, and more instead of multiple systems and upstream data sources. This reduced manpower requirement provides a significant efficiency and financial advantage for TGL.
Post-Match Activities
The platform offers more unique benefits after a match. Since ScoreSight processes data in real time, standings and stats are updated immediately after the match ends, which minimizes extensive post-match activities and improves the speed and accuracy of match finalization.
In addition, any changes or corrections made during the match trigger automatic recalculation or correction of stats, ensuring a precise official record. The system can then generate media reports from the processed data, streamlining the distribution of match results and statistics to media outlets typically within minutes of match conclusion.
Built for the Future
When building ScoreSight, scalability was always a key consideration. As a partner, CapTech wanted to create the flexibility to create new leagues and opportunities for TMRW Sports down the line. The platform can scale to multiple leagues, broadcasts, teams, and third parties all running in parallel with the raw data to plan for, manage, and tell the story of future matches.
ScoreSight also supports various customization options for data consumption. The system can enhance the customer experience, tailoring it based on what data they need, when they need it, and at what frequency. ScoreSight is built for the future, allowing additional activations and consumer experiences in subsequent seasons.

Results
CapTech’s partnership with TGL resulted in the successful development and deployment of ScoreSight. A modern platform was built to support TGL's operations, offering a centralized system for league administration, live data consumption, and spectator engagement, which was clear to see when the league launched in primetime on ESPN in January of 2025. Through innovative technology and efficient processes, the platform sets the stage for future enhancements and continuous improvement.
