October 30, 2024Perspectives and Programming: The Impact of DIB on CapTech’s Culture

At CapTech, our core value of ‘Belonging’ comes to life through our national Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) Council’s programs and events, where everyone is encouraged to openly and candidly share their authentic lived experiences.
Throughout 2024, the DIB Council and our seven Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) have been bustling with exciting panel discussions, guest speaker events, heritage month celebrations, and even food demonstrations. While participation in ERGs and DIB programming is optional, hundreds of CapTechers join in on events throughout the year to share their triumphs and challenges, expand their perspectives, and in turn, take those new insights with them as they approach their clients’ challenging and complex business problems.
Our ERGs have hosted a plethora of impactful events this year, including:
- Black Excellence – Juneteenth Celebration | Each office contributed a segment to our annual Juneteenth Celebration, fostering a sense of community through in- person and virtual events.
- Pride – Pride Month Celebration and Guest Speakers Irene and Samantha Brank | During a very busy Pride Month celebration, we welcomed Irene Brank, an advocate for the transgender community, along with her daughter Samantha, to discuss the transgender community and allyship in the workplace, family, and beyond.
- Women – Womentorship | In its sixth iteration this year, 28 ‘Womentors’ hosted sessions on various topics for participants, known as ‘Womentees,’ strengthening connections amongst each other during this 3three-week program.
- AAPI – AAPI Heritage Month Leadership Panel | During Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, eight CapTechers hosted a panel discussing how their identity and experiences have shaped how they view leadership and navigate their careers.
- Families – Mental Health Awareness Panel | Panelists share their personal mental health journeys and tips as working parents, caregivers, partners, and children. It was the highest attended event in their ERG’s history.
- Neurodiversity – World Mental Health Day Guest Speaker Dr. Ashley Gaddy Robbins | Dr. Gaddy Robbins provided CapTechers with a deeper understanding of the intersections of mental health, neurodiversity, and identity, providing tangible, practical methods for supporting one another.
- Juntos – ‘Charlemos’ | These informal monthly calls allow CapTechers to practice their Spanish speaking skills, strengthening and growing our community through language.
“At CapTech, our success comes from our amazing, dedicated team,” said Matt Beaver, Chair of CapTech’s DIB Council, and Director in the Management Consulting Practice Area. “Our ERGs are very important as they foster a sense of belonging, providing support, and strengthening connections amongst one another through unique, diverse perspectives. Together, we're building a workplace where everyone thrives, and helps drive success for our clients and community.”
