CapTech held their 15th Annual CapTech Open on October 6, 2016 at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia. The 2016 CapTech Open is a charity golf tournament that raises money to help fund a different local each year.
This year's beneficiary was The McShin Foundation, Virginia's leading non-profit, full-service Recovery Community Organization (RCO), committed to serving individuals and families in their fight against Substance Use Disorders, in honor of beloved CapTecher Marta Lefleor's daughter, Brenna, who lost her battle with addiction in 2014.
The event raised $1,800 for Houses for Hope, an initiative founded by Lefleor and CapTech's CEO Kevin McQueen and family to raise funding for ownership of the recovery houses for The McShin Foundation. Recovery houses offer a safe, supportive environment with 24/7 peer-to-peer support for those seeking recovery.
McShin, who currently receives no government funding, owns 1.5 of their houses and rents the remainder. The majority of McShin's income comes from the weekly rent it charges to residents living in their houses. The goal of ownership is to shift funding away from renting residences and towards better care and services to those seeking recovery at their facilities.
The proposed programs and services that increased funding would benefit include day services for those who need to drop in for support, ER recovery coaches to provide care to those who have overdosed, recovery school programs to foster safe and supportive learning, after school programs, free monthly detoxes, and jail recovery programs.
