Challenge

Chick-fil-A has always embraced innovation, especially when new technologies can benefit their customers. They decided to host a student technology hackathon to work with the employees of tomorrow to generate new and exciting technology concepts and tap into potential talent for their business.

Results

By the end of the event, each of four student teams put together a proof-of-concept and presented their ideas. Every presentation demoed new innovations that Chick-fil-A could implement to help improve their overall customer experience. The student innovations offered Chick-fil-A some valuable insights into future technologists, as well as the opportunity to continue its role as an innovator in the fast-food industry.

Fresh Ideas

“Ultimately, we wanted fresh ideas as to how we might improve the Chick-fil-A guest experience,” said Jay Duff, mentor and coach to student innovators at Chick-fil-A’s Technology Innovation Center. “For the hackathon we wanted to include students from around the world in different colleges here in Atlanta to help bring in a fresh perspective.”

Weekend's events

We partnered with Chick-fil-A to help develop potential use cases for the hackathon and structure the weekend’s events. We also contributed coaches who functioned as experts in business and on technologies like Java, natural language processing, and machine learning. The coaches and students worked together to identify company business challenges, and opportunity areas for potential technology solutions for the student teams to explore.
