Joanna with CapTechersQ: What is special about the culture in your office?

A: Because we are one of the larger offices, mentorship and collaboration are readily available to our consultants. There are always people around with unique skills sets who can help you and guide your career at CapTech. Our open-office concept fosters collaboration.

We are also very invested in our community. We were founded in Richmond and believe in giving back. In addition to the things we do as a company, because servant leadership is part of our culture, our consultants are very involved individually. On any given day, a team of CapTechers is getting together to give back in some way.

Q: What do you love about working at CapTech?

A: The people! I love working with smart people who constantly challenge me and with clients who have real business problems that I have the opportunity to work with and solve.

Q: How is your office making an impact on the community?

A: As one of the largest employers of outstanding technical talent in the Richmond market, we believe in giving back to the community and to organizations that foster development in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM. Through our sponsorships, we not only invest dollars, but also give our time to provide education and mentorship.

We have a corporate culture that supports giving. We sit on the boards of more than 25 non-profit organizations across the community, and the donations of our time and dollars impact more than 50 community organizations. From our inception, we have invested in programs that improve education systems, promote healthy lifestyles, enable entrepreneurial initiatives and develop solutions that heal people in need.

Q: What is your favorite memory as a CapTecher?

A: My favorite memory dates back to the CapTech Classic bike race and the first time we brought the race to Richmond. It was amazing to be part of the entire process, from project planning and coordinating with the city, to race day set-up, to helping with registration and then seeing the finish. Once it kicked off, it was amazing to see RVA come out to support something we had built and watch all the cyclists come down the hill. There was such incredible camaraderie within our organization. Fast-forwarding to now, it is great to see what racing has become in Richmond, based on CapTech's initial investment. The continued impact has been amazing.

Q: When you are not in the office, where can we find you?

A: You will find me spending as much time as possible with my husband and our three boys. I'm either chasing them around a soccer field or basketball court, playing tennis, running, or heading up to Charlottesville to catch a UVA basketball game.
