Have you ever needed to compare two data sources and research discrepancies? You can use excel, vlookups etc. This tip helps you get creative and use Spotfire to identify and research differences.

  1. Import first data source into Spotfire.
  2. Import second data source into Spotfire
  3. Manage relationships between 1st and 2nd data sources on a primary key
  4. Align your disparate data sources on one Spotfire tab

Highlight all records from the original (gold source) data source. This will mark corresponding matching records in the 2nd data source.

Example below – unmarked (in white) records from Data Source 2 do not match Data Source 1

Navigate to your new data source visualization. Right click – Marked Rows - Invert

This will allow you to quickly view the details of the records exist in the original data source that do not exist in the second data source.
